Dear Ms. Hunter,

My name is Hope Johnson. I've lived in D.C my entire life and pretty much gone the traditional school route.  I went to John Eaton Elementary, and then Alice Deal MS before attending Wilson HS. My favorite thing about school would be getting to see my friends everyday since I don't have too much time after school to hang out with them. My strengths would defiantly be positivity and creativity. I'm good at finding the good in (most) things and people. I also don't hate writing essays, so that's important. Physically speaking, I think Iv'e got pretty good endurance, so I guess you could say I'm healthy for my age.

I am the oldest child in the family. I have two siblings; one girl and one boy. My sisters name is Grace. She's five years old and she's in kindergarten at Phoebe Hearst Elementary School. My brother is (unfortunately) much closer to my age. He is also at Wilson, but he is a freshman. I don't speak any other languages other than English, but i have been taking French class in school and plan to go over seas for next summer to learn Arabic or Hindi( i don't know yet but frankly, don't have much time to decide). I don't have any pets, but if I did, I would want either a Burmese cat or an Irish wolfhound dog.

The only hobby that I really have time for is dancing. It is fairly time consuming, considering I have it everyday other than Mondays and Sundays after school. I've been dancing since I was young though, so the schedule Isn't new to me. I would love to be able to fit in cross-country, but I don't want to get into something that I won't have time for. Though I have a computer at home, I don't consider myself "savvy". I only know the average amount of information that most people would know, but I'm definitely good at working Microsoft Word and other programs we might need to use for school. My favorite sports would be basketball, baseball and tennis. Something important about what was just mentioned: I don't like actually playing  baseball, I just like watching it. My favorite genre books are science fiction. My favorite book that I've read most recently is Slaughter- House five by Kurt Vonnegut.

In English class, some skills I need help with would be finding a way to smoothly add quotes into papers. The way I put them in don't always seem to flow with my essay or constructed response. For this class, I expect to read at least one piece of famous literature (besides Shakespeare), and increase my skills at analyzing text. Something you should know about me that is important is that I raise my hand and talk in class, but in Socratic seminars I'm mostly silent. It's not that I don't think I shouldn't talk, but I'm just really shy when it comes to them. This year however, one of my goals is to be better at Socratic seminars, so my goal is to talk at least four times during one.
